Programme
Shams is a meeting.
A meeting between two musicians with different backgrounds and origins.
A meeting between the surprise of improvisations and the character of compositions.
A meeting between the intensity of tradition and the freedom of contemporary codes.
Agreement, language, mixture of differences...
It is precisely the creative spring of this group, which hears the music only free of all borders. Taking into account the roots and the influence of the cultures of each, the duo explores the contrasts.
United by a common feeling of music as an entity in its own right (of which the musician would be the the musician would be vector), the two artists integrate into their play the notion of trance and of self-forgetfulness. Philosophy that one finds in certain cultures in particular the Sufism. The name of the project is besides a homage to Shams of Tabriz, Sufi of the 12th century Sufi who met Rumi and awakened in him the poet that he was.
