Miclen LaiPang, a violinist celebrated by the New York Times as a "force to be reckoned with", infuses the ensemble with his worldly experience and dynamic energy. Marc Girard Garcia, a graduate of the CNSM in Paris, imparts a nuanced cello artistry that shapes the Trio's authentic sound. Pianist Ian Barber, a protégé of Andre Watts at Indiana University, brings a musical sensibility that enriches the Trio's interpretations with depth and texture.
Â
Â
Â
Named after Voltaire's character Zadig, who embodies "justice" and "truth", Trio Zadig translates these virtues into their interpretations. Menahem Pressler, of the Beaux Arts Trio, called them "the finest musicians working today" and emphasized that the Trio Zadig comprises "three extraordinarily gifted instrumentalists and, at the same time, true musicians in constant research".
Â
Â
Their reputation is reinforced by numerous awards, including the prestigious Fnapec "Musiques d'Ensemble" first prize - a path previously taken by such renowned ensembles as the Quatuor Ysaÿe, the Quatuor Ebene and the Trio Wanderer, the latter having described Trio Zadig as possessing "superb artistic and technical qualities".
Â
Â
Â
Eminent institutions such as La Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, the Fondation Singer-Polignac, the ProQuartet association and the Académie Musicale de Villecroze recognize them as "associate artists" or "resident artists".
Â
Â
Â
Trio Zadig has left its mark all over the world, performing from the USA to Taiwan in such renowned venues as BOZAR, Shanghai City Theater, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Philharmonie de Paris and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Their interactions with renowned artists such as Alfred Brendel have significantly enhanced their musical maturity.
Â
Â
Â
Their social commitment goes beyond their successes. They frequently bring music to schools, hospitals and prisons, demonstrating their dedication to the community and the transformative power of music.
Â
Â

Their repertoire ranges from Haydn to contemporary composers, refreshing the trio genre with boldness and freshness. Poetic sound, depth and sincerity characterize their interpretations, signifying a future as adventurous and enduring as their namesake. Their discography includes three critically acclaimed CDs: "Something in Between", "The Seasons" and "Orpheus", winning such distinctions as Télérama's "quatre f", Classica and Figaro's "coup de cœur", and France Musique's "CD du jour".
